Wildlife Photography & Conservancy on Rambut Isle

Both wildlife photography and conservancy can be outdone together at exactly the same moment. This is what The Wildlife Photographers Community (WPC) was doing, together with some other wildlife photography hobbyists. They visited the Flora and Fauna Conservancy of the Rambut Isle (SMPR) - a conservancy area closest to Jakarta.

15 FNers (Fotografer.net's members) were spirited and going around the isle. Some of them met the Boiga Dendrophila (a species of snake), were sneaking out iguanas, fishing and donated some mangrove seeds. For your information, WPC and Wildlife Conservancy Foundation have together observed, examined and mapped SMPR's wildlife since 2005. Bernard T. Wahyu Wiryanta

Canon's 70-200mm New Lens

The second generation lens, the EF 70-200mm f/2.8 IS II USM, is one of Canon's products that were released at CES 2010. Alike the predecessor, this lens is featured with a maximum aperture of f/2.8, also an anti-dust and weather resistant body.

The difference is; this lens has four stops of camera-shake correction and a fluorite and a fifth UD element in its construction, which is supposed to minimize secondary chromatic aberrations and produce improved overall image quality across the zoom range. Unfortunately, the minimum focal length is shortened to 1.4 meter. The new lens is scheduled to ship in April. Pricing is still to be determined. divephotoguide.com, pdngearguide.com

Gimbal Tripod Head for Sport, Wildlife & Nature Photography

Photographers have a seemingly endless choice of support heads to perch atop their tripods: panheads, ballheads, and a wide array of other head accessories. There are times, however, when these may not be the optimum choice for special shooting situations.

Recently Induro introduced a tripod head for sports, wildlife and nature photographers who work with very long, heavy telephoto lenses. It's called a gimbal head, and the key to its success is the ability to easily balance heavy camera/lens systems.

For an investment of less than US$ 500 you can get the maximum performance and creative control from professional telephoto lenses. To see more details, go to www.InduroGear.com.

Moreover, Kodak has also filed two separate suits against Apple that claim infringements of patents relating to digital cameras and certain computer processes.
