1857 Participants Toned Up CPMI 2016 in Yogyakarta

Taking place from Sunday (10/30) morning till evening, Canon PhotoMratahon Indonesia (CPMI) in Yogyakarta was attended by 1857 participants who were not only from Yogyakarta, but also from other cities/towns in Central Java, East Java and Sumatra. This annual event was held at Hartono Mall and officially opened by Deputy Governor of Yogyakarta, Paku Alam X.

In 2016, CPMI is organized in three cities: Surabaya (October 22), Yogyakarta (October 30) and Jakarta (November 12). In this sixth CPMI in Yogyakarta, the photo competition was open for two categories, namely General and Student. “This Student category is in line with Canon’s mission in developing photography interest and skill in community, as well as in fostering young photographers,” said Sintra Wong, Division Manager of Canon Image Communication Product Division, PT Datascrip – the sole distributor of Canon digital imaging products in Indonesia.

Deputy Governor of Yogyakarta, Paku Alam X, officially opened CPMI 2016 in Yogyakarta yesterday.

The competition offered three themes to challenge all the participants in making their best shots. The participants looked enthusiastically in hunting their photo subjects which were of course in accordance with the determined themes. The contest was not only for Canon camera users, but also open for all camera brand ones.

Several cameras, lenses, printers and photo clinic trips to several destinations in Indonesia and Japan were provided for winners. Top prize, consisting Canon EOS 750D, Canon EF-S 18-55mm and photo clinic trip to Japan, went to Nursanto as grand champion or top winner. He will join the trip with other top winners from Surabaya and Jakarta.

In addition the the photo contest, participants could join photography seminar with Yulianus Ladung (industrial photographer) as the speaker. Games, quizes with some prizes, and music performance made the event more lively. “It is not just photo competition, it is an event for friendship and information exchange among photographers from various areas,” said Merry Harun, Canon Division Director, PT Datascrip.
