Jambore Fotografi (Photography Jamboree) 2016 in Makassar was successfully held and attended by more than 400 participants coming from South Sulawesi, West Sulawesi and outside Sulawesi Island. This third annual event was organized by Makassar Office of Tourism and Creative Economy, in collaboration with South Sulawesi Photography Federation (FFSS).
Themed “Makassar at Night,” the two-day jamboree took place at MaxOne Hotel and Anjungan Pantai Losari (Losari Beach Pavilion) last weekend (5/28-29). The event was free of charge and presented such several programs as traditional dances, photography workshop, photo rally, photo contest and model photo session.
“This year the jamboree was different from the previous years. The event theme ‘Makassar at Night’ became one of the reasons why many people were interested in taking part,” said Iksancolly, chairman of the organizing committee for the Photography Jamboree 2016.
Moreover, according to him, prizes from some sponsors (including cameras) for the photo contest winners and several top models of Makassar City, including a model from Russia, made the event more lively. All the participants “enjoyed the programs which were all free of charge,” he added.
Beside model and fashion photography, participants could also shoot some other photo subjects such as traditional dancers, food and cityscape. In photography workshop, the committee presented mentors like Kristupa Saragih (co-founder of Fotografer.net) and Awaluddin Tahir (travel photographer).
The jamboree was officially opened by Rusmayani Madjid, Head of the Makassar Office of Tourism and Creative Economy, accompanied by a representative from Ministry of Tourism. As quoted by RakyatSulsel.com, Rusmayani said that she was proud of the event since it could attract great enthusiasm. “I hope this event could even be greater and could impact Makassar tourism,” she said.
