As already reported in the latest edition of Exposure Magz (click to download the magazine), Nikon is rumored to unveil its new mirrorless camera soon. The Nikon 1 J2 will be the successor to the 1-Series J1 that was introduced last year. The 1Nikkor 11-27.5mm f/3.5-5.6 lens will likely serve as a new kit lens with a 30-75mm equivalent zoom range.
These images have purportedly leaked ahead of the official announcement of the new camera and lens units.
As a refresher, the Nikon 1 camera system is a mirrorless system with a 2.7x crop factor – in contrast to the 2x crop factor of the Micro Four Thirds system, the 1.5x crop factor of Sony NEX and the 1.6 crop factor of the Canon EOS M. The excellent new Sony RX100 compact camera also features a 2.7x crop factor (albeit without the interchangeable lens option).
An official announcement is expected as early as next week. Expect to hear lots more as we move closer to Photokina 2012 in Cologne, Germany. Click here for more images and estimated specs. photographybay.com
