Canon Announced EOS-M Mirrorless Camera
As expected, today Canon finally announces its anticipated mirrorless camera series, the Canon EOS M. Designed for anyone seeking answer to their passion in photography, the EOS M offers a combination of compact, versatile design and DLSR-quality imaging.
The Canon EOS M is buit with a 18 MP APS_C hybrid CMOS sensor which provides high-resolution image result. The large sensor allows for artistic background blur as well as charming portraits or close-up shots.
Also, it is supported by Canon’s DIGIC 5 processor, offering natural, smooth color and skin tones. Meanwhile, its wide ISO range (from 100 to 12800; extendable to 25600) promises amazing image with clear details when shooting under low-light or at night.
With a high-resolution 3inch Clear View LCD II Touch Screen, the camera also offers various shooting modes and settings we can adjust via the on-screen icons. Interestingly, it also boasts the Scene Intelligent Auto feature which allows the camera to adjust its settings based on the subject and shooting conditions. It also offers several Creative Filters such as Toy Camera effect, Grainy B&W, and Fisheye Effect.
Alongside the Canon EOS M, Canon has also announced two new M-mount lenses—the EF-M 22mm f/2 STM pancake and the EF-M 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM standard zoom—and a new compact EX Speedlite (the Speedlite 90EX). The good news is that Canon users can also mount their EF lenses to this EOS M using the new Mount Adapter EF-EOS M.
Available in 4 color options—sleek black, glossy white, stylish silver, and bold red, the Canon EOS M kit (with 22m lens) will start shipping in October for $800. Meanwhile, the EF-M 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM is also offered separately for $300.
