A photography gathering is usually attended by photography enthusiasts from various photo communities. However, in Palembang, something “unusual” occurred since the gathering was not only attended by photography people but also by such non-photography clubs as automotive clubs and stand-up comedy community.

More than 130 attendees, mostly from some photography communities in Palembang and surrounding towns like Lahat, Baturaja and Muara Enim, enlivened the Canon-Fotografer.net (FN) Gathering Series 2012 in the capital of South Sumatra Province. Taking place at a café in downtown on Sunday (7/15), from morning to afternoon, the gathering ran in a friendly and joyful atmosphere, and in a sense of unity.

In his welcome speech, Kristupa Saragih – co-founder of FN – said that the gathering in Palembang was so special that various communities joined in. “From our previous gatherings, Palembang is the first to hold gathering involving non-photography communities,” he said.

Beside photo sharing, the gathering also included a session in which some members of each photography community introduced their club. A quiz-and-prize program and music performance made the event more lively.

A model shooting session became the closing program with an off-road car and some Mercedes Benz cars as shooting properties. The session involving five female models was held outdoor around the venue.

“This kind of gathering is beneficial and favorable,” said Ricky coming from Muara Enim town, about 185 kilometers from Palembang, “We can share knowledge and experience, and make friend as well.”
