Traditional Art Performance & Maximizing Camera in Banjarmasin Workshop
Banjarmasin became one of the cities holding the 2012 Canon-FN Workshop Series; taking place at Djok Mentaya building (headquarter of Banjarmasin Post Daily), the workshop has been carried out last Sunday (7/8). As the workshop discussed basic photography theme of “Maximizing Your Camera”, the attendees were mostly journalists and photography enthusiasts at beginner level.
Presented by two speakers, Harlim—senior photographer widely renowned for his IR camera modification—and Kristupa Saragih—co-founder of Fotografer.net (FN), the workshop ran lively and offered a lot of useful knowledge.
Harlim, with his eccentric style, explained in detail how to maximize the use of camera by understanding and using all common features a camera may offer. “Don’t worry about too many things—just let your camera think and do the task for you,” he summed up, which seemed to give a “revelation” to the attendees.
After lunch break, the presentation session was then carried out by Kristupa, who explained all basic photography aspects and techniques, accompanied by several samples of image he has taken. He also shared the behind-the-scene stories of each photos he presented; adding more to how to maximize cameras in shooting.
The attendees were also presented with a traditional performance—Radap Rahayu dance and Banjar traditional music—which certainly became a pleasing entertainment while also being attractive to capture. Also, there were two models posing for them during the photoshoot session. ![]()
