East Borneo Photography Gathering: Street Hunting, Fun, Togetherness

After joining in the Canon-FN Workshop Series, photography enthusiasts in Balikpapan held a photography gathering on Sunday (17/6). Organized by members of Fotografer.net (FN), the Fotografer.net Gathering & Street Hunting was attended by more than 200 photography lovers from Balikpapan and the nearby cities.

Interestingly, the gathering was not carried out like the common events; instead, it included a street hunting where participants went along the way from Balcony Mall—capturing objects along the street while heading to the gathering venue, Kilang Mandiri Café & Resto, Balikpapan.

Started at 2 pm, the gathering was also attended by Kristupa Saragih—co-founder of FN—and Farano Gunawan—Event Managet at FN. Though organized by FN members, the gathering was also attended by those from other communities—FOBIA, Hiperfokal, Lentera, and many more.

“Besides street hunting, we also carried out a simple photo contest,” said Yulianus Firmansyah Ladung, one of the organizers. The photos taken during the street hunting were submitted and judged by Kristupa; 10 photos were then selected out of all the photos submitted.

Such street hunting and gathering was the first to hold in Balikpapan. Though been prepared less than three weeks before, the event has been successful. “It is the togetherness that has made it possible for us to hold this event,” Yulianus emphasized.
