Alternative Photo of “The Beatles on Abbey Road” Going for Auction
Beatles fans or not, we all must have been familiar with the iconic photo of “The Beatles on Abbey Road”—showing personnel of the band walking across Abbey Road. Now, a rare alternative version of the photo is going to be auctioned.
A work of the late photographer Iain Macmillan, the alternative photo showed several differences from the popular one taking the hit. The clearest difference is that the personnel were walking to the opposite direction compared to the “original” photo, making it seemed as if they were walking “backwards”.
Another difference was that Paul McCartney was wearing a pair of sandals, whereas the popular version of the photo showed him walking bare feet. Also, he was not holding a cigarette as seen in the popular version.
The alternative photo has been set for public viewing since last Friday, while the auction itself is to take place later this month. It is expected that the piece should fetch at least £9,000 when auctioned. Besides the particular photo, there are 24 other The Beatles photos going for the same auction; they were sold by a private collector.
