This March, Carl Zeiss has announced its new lens, the Distagon T* F2.8 15mm fisheye lens. The super wide-angle lens, to come with an EF (ZE) or F bayonet (ZF.2), is addressed to provide the special performance demanded by landscape and architectural photographers while also being ideal for advertising and commercial photography as well as photojournalism.
The new lens offers the combination of an extra-large angle of view of 110 degrees with a fast f/2.8 aperture which ensures dramatic perspectives and performance. In landscape and architectural photography, the extreme angle of view allows photographers to emphasize the foreground and background creatively.
The super wide-angle lens also enables photographers to capture images in tight spaces while still maintaining close-up focus on details of the subjects. Better still, the lens’ distortion is brilliantly controlled, resulting in proportional images which appear natural when compared to similar images produced by other super wide-angle lenses.
Dr. Michael Pollmann, Consumer Lenses program Manager in the Camera Lens Division at Carl Zeiss AG, also added, “Even at full aperture it achieves outstanding detail rendition and opens up room for extremely imaginative design.”
Besides the all-metal barrel design, the full specification of the lens can be read here. The Distagon T* f/2.8 15mm lens will start shipping on May at a suggested retail price of US$2,948. dpreview.com, ephotozine.com
