Sony Develops Stacked CMOS Sensor for Image Enhancements
Sony Corporation has announced its latest development, the stacked CMOS image sensor, which supports the continuous evolution of digital camera. The structure of the new sensor will allow for more enhancements in image quality, superior functionalities as well as letting the camera to adopt a more compact design.
Compared to the conventional back-illuminated CMOS image sensor, the stacked sensor incorporates advance key functions such as Sony’s unique “RGBW Coding” which enables clear shooting in darkness (either indoor or outdoor) and “HDR Movie” function which enables brilliant colors to be captured even in bright setting. The stacked sensor will also allow faster signal processing and lower power consumption.
Sony is currently conducting further development on the image sensor and will also expand the product line-up to create user-friendly cameras with greater shooting enjoyment.
