Mamiya & Leaf Integrates to Develop Medium-format Digital Camera

The trusted medium-format camera and optics manufacturer and developer Mamiya is now integrating with Leaf Imaging Ltd., a manufacturer and developer of digital backs for medium and large-format camera systems. The brand of the integrated companies—called Mamiya Leaf—aims to establish and develop a complete medium-format digital camera system worldwide.

The brand’s product lines will be a combination of fully-integrated high-end digital photography systems supported by excellent camera backs, bodies, and lenses. Dov Kalinski, General Manager at Leaf, claimed, “Creating a new Mamiya Leaf brand represents a win-win situation for photographers as they will be able to immediately benefit from a highly advanced, fully-integrated medium format system from the industry’s leading suppliers.”

The integration also aims to establish a more efficient customer sales and support.  “We are confident that the synergy created and the efficiency gained by simplifying our operations will enable us to serve our customers faster and better,” stated Toshio Midorikawa, Digital Imaging President at Mamiya.

The Mamiya Leaf medium format camera bodies are manufactured by Mamiya, while Leaf is working on the digital backs. All the components, from cameras, lenses, to backs, will maintain their original Mamiya and Leaf labels, and hence will still be sold individually. dpreview.com
