Polaroid Unveils Android-operated Digital Camera

Expecting to maintain the company’s relevance to the developing technology, Polaroid has just unveiled its Android-operated digital camera. The new product, named the Polaroid SC1630 Smart Camera, was announced during the 2012 Consumer Electronic Show (CES) in Las Vegas, earlier this month.

The camera, which somehow looks more like a smartphone than a digital camera, boasts a 16MP sensor and 3x optical zoom. It has a 3.2-inch rear display and weighs only five ounces. Runs on Android system operation, it also features Wi-Fi connection for easy, quick access to social networking. Other features offered include 18 different scene modes, automatic face and smile detection, GPS setting—allowing users to arrange photos by date and location, and photo editor.

“The newest member of the Polaroid family, the Polaroid SC1630 Smart Camera unites the beauty of high-end digital images with powerful Android connectivity features,” claimed Scott W. Hardy, President of Polaroid. He also added, “The result is an instant experience of click, capture and share that enables social networks to see and experience the moment as if they were there.”

Information on the price and release date is to be announced in the coming months. dailytech.com
