FN9 Jelajah Musi: Promoting Palembang Tourism through Photography
More than 100 members of Fotografer.net (FN)—the biggest online photography community in Southeast Asia—in Palembang, South Sumatra, will celebrate FN’s 9th anniversary in an event entitled “FN9 Jelajah Musi (Exploring Musi River)”. Palembang will be the fourth city celebrating FN’s anniversary—founded on December 30, 9 years ago.
The whole agenda in the event will be carried on in a mission of promoting Palembang tourism through photography. Dian Novita, the head of the committee, explained, “FN members in Palembang have chosen to expose Musi (River) and the Bridge of Ampera as they are the strongest symbols of our city.”
To support in promoting the local tourism, a photomodel hunting session will also be conducted, taking place at Kemarau Island, Kampung Kapitan. The hunting session will be based on Palembang local culture as the main theme. “The concept of the hunting combines Tionghoan culture, Palembang traditional clothes, and Tanggai dance performance,” Dian added.
Kristupa Saragih, one of the founders of FN, will also attend the “FN9 Jelajah Musi”. Previously on December 31, he himself had officially opened a photo exhibition entitled “Palembang Berbicara (Palembang Raise Its Voice)”, which displayed 50 photographs taken by Palembang-based photographers.
The celebration of FN’s 9th anniversary in Palembang will be initiated by an event named “FN9 Goes to PT Bukit Asam” on January 12, with about 35 participants—the committee and several honor guests—joining in it.
Commenting on the whole event within the string of FN’s 9th anniversary celebration in Palembang, Rully Trisaputra—a Palembang professional photographer—emphasized, “Clearly, we would like to promote Palembang tourism through photography—both by photoghraphing the city and by holding FN9 Jelajah Musi”.
Previously, three other cities—Jakarta, Batam, and Surabaya—had celebrated FN’s 9th anniversary in their cities on December 30. Semarang and Ambon will also hold similar celebration on December 15. ![]()
