5 Photography Trends in 2012
As technology continues to develop, photography gears also improves and offers new breakthroughs. In 2012, some have predicted what new products or features to be the trend for the year. Below are some of the predictions:
1. Interchangeable-lens Cameras
In 2011, several leading camera manufacturers like Panasonic, Sony, and Nikon, have introduced their interchangeable-lens cameras (ILC), each offering distinctive features targeted to answer the users’ special demands.
It it predicted that the rise of ILC will continue quite rapidly. New models are to be expected, addressed for a wider range of users.
2. CMOS Sensor
The use of CMOS sensor in both DSLR and compact cameras will also continue to rise. The sensor type offers speed and features supporting high-quality pictures, such as a 1080p HD video recording ability, super fast burst shooting mode, and many other advanced features.
As in 2012, it is predicted that CMOS sensor will start to be used more in smartphone cameras.
3. DSLR Features on Pocket Cameras
While 2011 had been dominated mostly by DSLRs, this new year users will be given a combination of simplicity and complexity in the form of compact/pocket cameras built in with DSLR features like enhanced zooming system, aperture and exposure setting, manual control, and other special features.
This way, users will have more flexibility DSLR features offer while also gaining a simple shooting process offered by the compact camera’s lighweight design.
4. Cameraphone with Quad Core
Along with the improvement in compact cameras which will start to compete with the DSLRs, smartphone cameras are also believed to eventually start to enter the camera market in a more serious level.
Besides having quad-core processor, smartphone cameras are also predicted to adopt high-class photographic features—added with many photographic tools or applications, making it worth considering in the world of photography.
5. Lytro Cameras
Last but not least, perhaps the most interesting prediction is the emerge of Lytro camera, which allows users to choose the focus point after pressing the shutter button. Unlike the common cameras which choose the focus point before shooting, Lytro camera enables us to capture the scene and decide which area to be focused later.
Predicted to launch around March or April this year, Lytro camera will certainly be a breakthrough, adding a new taste and fun in photography.
