“Life in Photographs”: A Testament of Linda McCartney’s Talent in Photography
Best known as Paul McCartney’s wife, only few people are aware of Linda McCartney’s (neé Eastman) work as a photographer. The book “Life in Photographs” reveals Linda’s own life as a photographer, which had started and developed even long before she married Paul of The Beatles.
“Life in Photographs” presented Linda’s journey in photography, with most of her best works are her own family life’s portraits—either personal or professional. Her works are celebrity-free though she had often been misleadingly identified with her husband’s celebrity life. The photographs of her family showed “extraordinary tenderness with only few of them veer into sentimentality”. Her portrait works also included those of her world-renowned celebrity friends such as Jimi Hendrix, the model Twiggy, Jim Morrisson of The Doors, Aretha Franklin, and many others.
Compiled by contributing authors Annie Leibovitz (chief photographer for Rolling Stone magazine) and Martin Harrison (a historian of art and photography and exhibitions curator), “Life in Photographs” brings to surface the rarely-recognized part of Linda’s life and work. Though some may skeptically value her works unfairly in regards to her celebrity marriage, her works presented in the book clearly become a “moving personal journal and a lasting testament of her talent”.
Available in hardcover with 288 pages, “Life in Photographs” can be ordered on Amazon for US$39.52 or about Rp 351.000.
