A workshop has already been carried out succesfully rom morning to afternoon yesterday (September 10). Taking place at Sintesa Peninsula Hotel, Manado, the Canon & Fotografer.net Workshop Series 2011 presented an inspiring discussion on “Creative Landscape Photography with Live View.”
Speaking in front of more than 120 partcipants, two Jakarta-based photographers, Yadi Yasin and Harlim, brought the discussion in an easy and palpable way. Yadi Yasin is a renowned landscape photographer, and Harlim is known as an expert in infrared photography and infrared camera modifier as well.
Yadi appeared in the first session describing how to create landscape photos creatively. To make his explanation easier to understand, he put forward some gorgeous photos of his taken in various places.
Regarding how to achieve creative landscape photos, Yadi conveyed three things having to know well, namely the tools (understanding the camera, lens, etc) used, the method (understanding the significance of angle, composition, moment), and the nature’s behavior (understanding the nature and its surrounding).
Moreover, he emphasized the importance of being distinctive. It means that the photo “is not just documentary, not replication, but it should be using new angles and compositition, and new moments as well,” Yadi explained.
In the second session, Harlim – through his camera projected to a screen – explained how to maximize the use of Live View to make good landscape pictures. Practical tips he put forward made the participants of workshop understand it easier. The participants directly practiced what Harlim told them on using some functions in their own cameras.
After coffee break in the afternoon, there was question-and-answer session where some participants tried to find more information on the topic from both speakers. It ended the workshop. This was the fifth workshop in 2011 after Yogyakarta, Balikpapan, Bali and Jakarta.
