World Press Photo Releases iPad Application

The World Press Photo iPad application gives viewers the opportunity to swipe through all the 350 winning images in high resolution and search by image location via an interactive map. It also provides access to captions, photographers’ biographies, as well as camera information.

“World Press Photo is already familiar with the public of the yearbook and the worldwide traveling exbition, so with creating an application for the iPad we intend to reach a new audience,” says World Press Photo’s managing director Michiel Munneke. “The application is also in line with our strategy of investing in the online environment.”

World Press Photo plans to release an update to the application in coming weeks to include interviews with this year’s winners. The application is available on Apple’s App Store for £ 2.99 (€ 3.99).
