“Painting with Light”, All About Creating Light Art Performance Photography Pieces

Light Art Performance Photography (LAPP) is a unique photography technique using light as the main medium, first invented  and developed by Joerg Miedza—a cinematographer concerned in making movies using special techniques—and JanLeonardo Woellert, a night-shooting-dedicated photographer. The technique combines illuminating existing or selected objects and creations of new subjects constructed entirely of light, which are then captured photographically. Light Art Performance Photography is best shot at night with long exposure, which requires the photographer to capture the complex and precisely choreographed sequences and movement of the light.

In their recently published book Painting with Light, Miedza and Woellert present all things worth-understanding about LAPP in three sections; the first describes the emerge and the development of LAPP, the middle section presents spectacular LAPP pieces in large format images enriched with related information on how the pieces were created and captured photographically, while the last section of the book provides a workshop in which several sample projects are elaborated and explained to give a description and understanding on the creative process.

Published by Rocky Nook while written and presented firsthand by the inventor of the technique, Painting with Light offers broad description people would like to know about LAPP while also providing an understanding on the this kind of light art which unique effects it produces has attracted many photographers worldwide. The 224-page book is offered at a retail price of $39.95 (Rp 346,000). Order and purchase on Amazon is also available at $25.31 (Rp 220,000). photographybay.com, amazon.com
