Sigma Scholarship Contest for High School Seniors Opens until February

Committed to empower and support new to-be photographers, Sigma Corporation has announced the 2011 Sigma Corporation of America Scholarship contest which is open for application until February 28, 2011. The scholarship is available for high school students who will graduate in 2011. The award is to be given to one most talented student, including a $ 5,000 cash gift and a $ 1,000 gift card to support students’ further learning in photography related-fields.

To apply, students should fill out an application form (available online) and submit three to five images in a connecting theme, enrolled with a brief essay containing 300 to 800 words. The images should be saved in JPEG format, but applicants are not required to use Sigma photography equipments to capture the images. The essay should describe and explain applicants’ thematic intent and creative process.

Voting will be conducted from March 1, 2011 to April 1, 2011, while the winner will be announced on April 18, 2011.

Sigma Corporation requires the images and essay submitted to be appropriate for public posting. Sigma will not tolerate plagiarism and offense in any way.
