Seagate’s 1.5TB External Drive with USB 3.0

Seagate has squeezed a 1.5TB storage into a 2.5-inch (6.35cm) form factor but given a USB 3.0 interface; offers up to ten times faster transfer speeds over USB 2.0. Announced on September 22, the 1.5TB FreeAgent GoFlex comes with a 192-bit Triple DES encryption and is compatible with both Windows and Mac OS.

Besides the 3.0, it also features USB 2.0 plug-and-play connectivity. It includes pre-loaded easy-to-use backup software; lets you upgrade to USB 3.0, FireWire 800 or eSATA; and allows you to access your content on your TV, network and on-the-go when combined with other GoFlex devices.

The 4.71 x 3.51 x 0.87-inch (120 x 89 x 22mm) drive is now available in the U.S. for $249.99, with a global roll-out following later in the year. gizmag.com, seagate.com
